Day 16 - Last Evensong in Edinburgh written by Kenji HosokawaToday I woke up at about 8:30. I quickly slipped on my dress clothes and went down to the pub to eat breakfast. I had a toast and honey loops cereal; the toast wasn’t as burned as it usually was, so I had a better breakfast than usual. After breakfast the whole choir headed toward the church to get prepared for the Chorale Eucharist, or the morning service. It was the first time that we had sung in the morning service so I was a little nervous. When I walked through the crowd I saw a bigger crowd then the times we had song Evensong, so I was a little more nervous, but eventually I got over it and sang beautifully. After the service the teen boys had two hours to kill, so we decided to go to this burger place called Wannaburger. When we walked we noticed that another group of the choir was at the restaurant, Mrs.King’s and Mrs.Stone’s group of girls were already there! As we (the Eschola boys) sat down at the table we looked over the menu. It looked promising enough, and we ordered the burgers that we wanted. The orders took a while to arrive, but they eventually came. The burgers were delicious and worth the wait. However the boys and me were disappointed to discover that the fries didn’t come with the burger and cost 1.50 pounds. After being satisfied with our food, we heard a scream and we were curious to find out what happened, here’s the story: The Butterflies were walking to Waterstone, the book store, and they stopped to say hi to Juliane , they saw some girls lined up along the wall, Thea and Ashley got scared, because the girls were talking to them. Juliane and Ashley were walking and one of the girls grabbed her arm. They tried to take Juliane’s bag, but Ms.Connelly stopped them, but the girls continued to pursue the Butterflies. The choir was glad that the incident didn’t go as bad as it could have gone. Afterwards the choir had its last Evensong at Edinburgh. After Evensong, the Provost (the dean of the cathedral) thanked our choir for a wonderful week at Edinburgh, and hoped to see us again. I hope the plane ride will be safe and I will be safely back home. KENJI HOSOKAWA
* Note: No butterflies (the youngest girl choristers) were injured in what we expect was a pick-pocket attempt. I expect the little Scottish girls have learned not to mess with Ms.Connelly.
